Rachel Davis is an Accredited Practising Dietitian who specialises in using diet therapy for gastrointestinal conditions, for people undergoing cancer treatment and people requiring enteral or oral nutrition support.

Rachel completed her training at Flinders University and was awarded first-class honours for her research examining habitual fibre intakes of people living with inflammatory bowel disease. Rachel is currently undertaking her PhD examining protein metabolism in ulcerative colitis and is involved in multiple research projects within gastroenterology. Rachel works across both public and private health care settings as a clinical and research dietitian. Rachel has experience providing expert dietary advice in the specialty areas of gastroenterology, gastrointestinal surgery, oncology and home enteral tube feeding.


Specialist Clinical Skills

Functional disorders of the gut-brain axis & gastrointestinal diseases
Rachel works closely with gastroenterologists to provide specialist nutrition therapy to people with irritable bowel syndrome, coeliac disease, and other gastrointestinal issues. This includes FODMAP diet therapy and fibre manipulation for people suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome as well as dietary education and nutrition support in liver disease, gastrointestinal cancers and malabsorption disorders. 

Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Rachel has a strong interest in providing nutrition support to patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Rachel's 
research focus has been on fibre in inflammatory bowel disease and is now examining protein metabolism in ulcerative colitis as part of her PhD. Rachel is highly experienced in using a variety of dietary management strategies for treating inflammation in Crohn’s disease and using individualised diet therapies and nutrition support for both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. 

Enteral Tube Feeding and Oncology
Rachel has a special interest in home enteral tube feeding, providing specialist dietary advice and support to individuals and their families. Rachel also has extensive experience working with oncologists and specialist nurses to provide nutrition support to patients undergoing both chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Her experience includes providing dietary advice and enteral tube feeding support to assist patients with optimising their nutrition during and after cancer treatment.
